Orava region

Orava region is situated in northern Slovakia. There is the northernmost point of the Slovak republic - Oravská Polhora. Orava region is divided into sections Dolná Orava s centrom Dolný Kubín a Horná Orava, also called White Orava by the local river with centers Námestovo and Tvrdošín.

Orava is bordered by national borders, by West Tatras and Chočskými vrchmi. As an attraction for tourists, there is the possibility of a sightseeing trip by the raft down the river Orava, beneath the cliff of Orava Castle, which has already been the dominant of the Orava region more than 800 years. Today it is the Orava castle also museum with archaeological and folklore collections.

The region offers many historical monuments, natural beauties but also many opportunities for hiking. People can enjoy hiking, hunting, skiing or ski-running here.

Orava´s barrage offers the possibility of fishing and water sports and Oravské Beskydy with the highest point - Babia Hora offers the possibility of hiking. Orava region belongs to the most attractive Slovak regions by all means.
